Write ups from our very own Band members
Cheah Cen Ning, Class 4G
Being the Band Major has been one of the most meaningful experiences of
my school life, alongside serving as a Student Councillor. Over time, I’ve
learnt to understand and support others, realizing that everyone grows
at their own pace. Balancing leadership with my studies and managing challenging
situations taught me to confront problems maturely rather than avoid them.
Although I once struggled with confidence, these experiences have helped
me grow into a more capable leader. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity
to lead the band and for the support of my juniors and friends. I hope
the band continues to flourish with pride and passion.
Iryan Danial Bin Abdul, Class 4R
As the Drum major of the Band, I am entrusted with the responsibility
of guiding our band members on the right path. It is essential for me to
lead in a way that makes everyone feel included and ensures we all have
a great time together. Personally, I believe our band's spirit is fantastic,
and our musical performance is quite strong. I took part in the Papal mass
in 2024, exposing me to perform in front of a large audience. This made
me learn how to be confident in my skills and helped me to improve overall.
Muhammad Farishta Bin Muhammad Fahmi, Class 4N
Taking up the role of Student Conductor of the Band has been one of the
most meaningful experiences of my life. It has provided me with valuable
opportunities to develop my leadership skills.. Through this journey, I
have learnt to better understand others, communicate effectively, and step
out of my comfort zone to adapt to different environments—often working
behind the scenes.
These experiences have shaped me significantly, allowing me to grow not
only as a leader, but also as a supportive peer and a more thoughtful individual.
I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as Student Conductor,
and for the guidance and support from both teachers and fellow band members
throughout the years. Their encouragement has played an important role
in my growth, and I will always value the lessons I have learnt from this
experience.
Rex Low Yu Liang, Class 4V
Being in the band gives me a sense of responsibility. This role requires
me to remain focused at all times and not be distracted by my surroundings.
Through this experience, I have learned the importance of discipline, concentration,
and leading by example.
Over the past four years, my journey with the band has been incredibly meaningful. I have grown not only as a musician, but also as an individual. The time spent with my bandmates and teachers has been truly memorable, and I deeply appreciate their guidance, support, and dedication.
I am grateful for these experiences and will carry the lessons I have
learned with me beyond my time in the band.
The AES Concert Band: A Harmonious Journey to SYF 2025 and Festival Winds
The AES Concert Band has become a cornerstone of musical excellence, captivating audiences with their dynamic performances and dedication to the craft. This year, the band geared up for one of its most exciting milestones: the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) 2025. Known for its high standards and fierce competition, SYF provides a platform for youth ensembles to showcase their musical prowess. The AES Concert Band put up a performance that highlights both technical skills and artistic expressions.
In addition to SYF, the band participates in the annual year-end Festival Winds, a prestigious gathering of talented youth bands from across the region. Festival Winds offers a rare opportunity for musicians to collaborate, exchange ideas, and elevate their performances in a shared celebration of music. For the AES Concert Band, these events are more than just competitions; they are an opportunity to grow as a community and refine their craft.
As the band approaches these significant events, the AES Concert Band continues to inspire through its commitment to musical excellence, community spirit and an unwavering passion for the art of music. With SYF 2025 and Festival Winds ahead, the future looks incredibly bright for this talented ensemble.
