Overview
The Humanities Department in AES strives to bring about REAL and RELEVANT learning experiences for our learners. In a constantly evolving world, we continue to nurture habits of critical thought and perspectives, leveraging on the use of technology to bring the world closer to AssumptionKnights.
AssumptionKnights are encouraged to take on the hats of thoughtful Geographers, empathetic Historians and be keen learners of Social Studies, so that they may become Men and Women who possess a heart for service, and a mind that is ready to advocate for positive change.
Our Signature Programmes
-
Humanities Investigation Projects based on Inquiry-based Approaches
Lessons and projects are carefully designed using the Inquiry Model to infuse real-life, authentic scenarios suited for each level of learners to explore issues at hand, encouraging deeper thought through socratic conversations and collaborative learning with peers.
Lower Secondary learners go through various investigative projects to apply the concepts learnt and to demonstrate their learning and/or advocate for change/ improvements through creativity and imagination.
Upper Secondary learners continue to exercise their analytical minds through more open Inquiry learning processes and a stronger emphasis on values such as empathy for others.

-
Humanities READ Programme
To connect our learners to the real-world issues, relevant news articles aligned to the syllabuses are curated and published on our Humanities READ website, enabling AssumptionKnights to draw relevance from authentic situations to make connections to their learning in school.
By promoting access to current affairs and injecting fun elements through our reflection questions, AssumptionKnights are encouraged to deepen their awareness and understanding of real-world issues, and nurture civic and global consciousness.
