Direct School Admission 2021 - Secondary (DSA-Sec) Exercise

Direct School Admission (DSA)
Sports – Judo, Basketball &Football

Background

The DSA-Sec Exercise was first introduced in 2004 as part of MOE's move towards a more flexible and broad-based education system. Under the DSA-Sec Exercise, participating secondary schools will be able to select a percentage of their students for admission outside of the centralised posting system, via their own selection criteria. These criteria can include diverse academic and non-academic achievements and talents.

Assumption English School (AES) will admit our 3rd batch of DSA Secondary 1 students in 2021 for students with sporting talents in Judo, Basketball and Football.

School Vision

Men and Women of Character and Learning in the Service of God and Community.

Judo (Boys & Girls)

AES has put in place a good training and developmental programme (physical and mental skills training programme) to develop the physical skills as well as character of our Judokas (Boys & Girls). Over the past years, we have nurtured and developed many outstanding Judokas who have represented our Singapore Schools Team as well as Team Singapore at youth and national levels. Our C Girls emerged 3rd in the National School Games (NSG) C Division Girls Team Event Judo Championships 2019.

Basketball (Boys & Girls)
The AES Basketball (Boys & Girls) team has consistently performed well at the Zonal and National School Games (NSG) competitions. Our Basketballers are committed and disciplined in their sport while the school provides a conducive training environment for them to hone and develop their skills (include physical and mental skills training) and achieve excellence in character building. Our C Boys & Girls Basketball team emerged 4th position at the T-Net Club Basketball Tournament 2019.

Football (Boys)

AES Football Boys’ team competes actively at the National School Games (NSG) and external competitions. The B Division Boys’ team finished as one of the Top 4 teams in the West Zone NSG competition in 2015 and 3rd position in the NSG B Division Boys’ League 5 Football Championships 2019. The team focuses on developmental approach towards football development in our players. Under Coach Philippe Aw, our footballers develop and improve their individual technical skills, game play as well as tactical knowledge of the game. The development and growth of our footballers are complimented with mental skills training (ie. Growth mindset) by a professional mental skills trainer so as to instil a “Winning mindset” in them.

Programme
Assumption English School has a comprehensive developmental (both physical and mental skills training) programme to develop and nurture our sporting boys and girls into outstanding players anchored on values. While our programme focuses on developing the essential physical skills and knowledge in the various sports, it is designed to provide our students with a broad based of experiences that goes beyond just playing the sports. These include
          • Umpiring matches
          • Organising inter-school tournaments for Primary Schools
          • Coaching junior players
          • Mental skills training programme for students and teachers
          • Overseas training programme
          • Student leadership training programme ("DINAN" Leadership Programme)

We have a team of passionate, committed and experienced teachers and coaches who oversee the physical, mental, social and emotional well-being as well as academic progress of our players.
