Science Experiential Projects (SEP)
All Secondary 1 – 3 students will experience a Science Experiential Project (SEP) each year in their AES Science journey.
The designed SEP focusses on providing learning opportunities for Lower Secondary students to apply their knowledge and skills in Science to solve real-world problems.
It uses the design-inquiry approach which helps students to appreciate the relevance and value of what they have learnt in Science concepts and equip them with skills such as design thinking and problem-solving which are essential in the 21st century workforce.
Example - Secondary 1 Science: Water Filtration Project
Clean water is essential for life. We need water to drink, to bathe, and to clean our homes. In our water filtration project, not only our students get the chance to do a water quality test on pond water with real fishes in it, they also need to apply their creativity to come up with a simple water filtration system to clean up some muddy water. Through this activity, our students get to see the real world application of filtration in their daily lives.
